Now, when the pilot of a hot air balloon wishes to ascend, they do not berate the balloon for being unable to fly. They do not try to force the balloon upward while still loaded with ballast. Sometimes people worry, “If I let go of this anger (or grief, or identity, etc.), what will be left of me? Will I lose myself?” The answer is: you will not lose yourself, you will find yourself. In the same way, you are not losing anything essential by releasing attachments. You are clearing the way for your true, divine self to shine through. Each day, even if you drop just a little bit of the weight – a small resentment here, a petty worry there – you will rise that much higher.
